What is Pathology?

Pathology is a medical specialty that focuses on determining the cause and nature of diseases. By examining and testing body tissues (e.g. biopsies, pap smears) and fluids (e.g. blood, urine) pathology helps doctors diagnose and treat patients correctly. The results of a pathology test are used to ascertain an individual’s diagnosis. Pathology testing is also critical in identifying a specific course of treatment and in monitoring the individual’s recovery process.

What kind of tests are offered?

We offer a huge range of testing that is at the forefront of diagnostics. From the most advanced cardiac tests to screening tests that may indicate certain cancers or other illnesses. You can self refer for this or ask your doctor for a request. In most circumstances your private health insurance may pay for testing if it has been requested by your doctor. Please discuss this with TDC before commencing with any testing.
